How to get the most out of it
A few ways people use the checker beyond a one-time look.
Check right after launch
Many themes and site builders leave a placeholder icon in place. Run the checker on launch day and again after any theme change. If the working icon result fails, fix that first. Everything else builds on it, and on most platforms it is a two-minute job in the site settings.
Confirm Google can use your logo
Search results show a small icon next to each listing. If yours shows a generic globe, the icon is probably too small. Look at the Google results line, add a larger icon, then re-check. Give Google a week or two to pick it up.
Compare with a competitor
Run the checker on a competitor and on your own site. You do not need to match them file for file. Aim for every check turning green, then move on to things that affect rankings more directly.
Verify a fix without clearing caches
After uploading new icons, your own browser often keeps showing the old one for days. The checker always looks at what is live right now. If the report shows the new icon, the files are right and the stale icon is just your browser.

Does the checker work for any website?
Yes. WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow or a hand-coded site: favicons work the same way everywhere, so the results apply to any platform.
Why does my favicon show in the browser but not in Google results?
Google only shows a site icon that is a multiple of 48 pixels (48, 96, 144 and so on) or an SVG, served from your own domain. A 16 or 32 pixel icon is fine for tabs but too small for search results.
What is an apple-touch-icon and do I need one?
It is the icon iPhone and iPad use when someone saves your site to their home screen. Without one, iOS shows a small screenshot of your page instead. A 180 pixel PNG fixes it.
What is a web manifest?
A small text file that tells Android which icons to use for "Add to home screen" and how the app-like view should look. It needs 192 and 512 pixel icons to work properly.
I changed my favicon but the old one still shows. Why?
Browsers hold on to icons for a long time. Open the page in a private window or clear the site data. If the checker shows the new icon, your files are correct and only your browser is behind.
Do I need to install anything or log in?
No. You only enter a public web address. Nothing is installed, no passwords are needed and results are not kept.
